Instrumentation and Controls Design Engineer - Mid, Senior & Principal Levels

Overview

ENERCON is seeking talented Instrumentation & Controls Engineers at all experience levels, from early-career professionals to principal engineers. The I&C Engineer career path offers options to become a subject matter or technical expert, a people leader, a project manager, or a leader in business development. Full-time, part-time, or temporary roles are available.

Potential divisions include: Nuclear Services Group (NSG), ENERCON Federal Services (EFS), Data Center Mission Critical (DCMC), and Energy Group (EG).

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with interdisciplinary partners and coordinate with diverse engineering teams
• Develop design studies, prepare engineering calculations & analysis, attend project meetings, perform walkdowns, and mentor junior employees
• Create precise and error-free drawings, calculations, and analyses that exceed industry codes, standards, and client expectations
• Develop engineering documents that surpass client, ENERCON, and regulatory requirements
• Continuously enhance expertise in industry codes, safety culture principles, and advanced design techniques
• Deliver engineering solutions aligned with rigorous quality assurance programs
• Build client trust through clear communication and professional engagement
• Partner with multidisciplinary teams to create integrated designs
• Perform on-site plant walkdowns and ensure structures, systems, and components meet engineering standards

Qualifications

Mid-level position minimum qualifications:

• Bachelor's in Electrical, Mechanical, or similar Engineering degree from an accredited university
• Minimum 3 years of experience with design of electrical systems
• Experience in one of the following industries highly preferred: engineering/design services, power generation, nuclear power, heavy industrial (chemical or pulp & paper), energy, or government (DOE) projects
• Good writing, presentation, and communication skills
• Ability to be an individual contributor and work effectively in teams
• Proficient in Word and Excel
• Applicants must be legally authorized to work in the U.S. without current or future employer sponsorship

Experience levels: Senior Engineers typically have 7 years of post-graduate experience; Principal Engineers typically have 10 years. Candidates with less than 3 years of experience will be directed to early talent opportunities.

Citizenship requirement: Some roles involving federal contracts require U.S. citizenship.

Pay

USD $90,000.00 – USD $185,000.00 /Yr. Actual compensation determined based on job-related skills, experience, geographic location, and internal equity.
