Instructor in Translational Neuroscience
About the role
The Department of Psychiatry at the Perelman School of Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania seeks candidates for an Instructor position in the Academic Support Staff. This appointment will be initially for one (1) year and continuation during that time period and renewal are based on satisfactory performance and availability of funding (limited to three (3) years).
Responsibilities
- Conduct translational neuroscience research focused on mechanisms of electroconvulsive therapy (ECT) and neuromodulation using mouse models and human neuroimaging approaches
- Design and perform experiments involving in vivo optical imaging, electrophysiology, behavioral phenotyping, and computational analysis
- Contribute to the development and implementation of clinical translational research protocols related to ECT and other neuromodulation interventions
- Analyze and interpret experimental data
- Prepare manuscripts and presentations for scientific meetings and peer-reviewed publication
- Assist with mentorship and training of students and research staff
- Participate in collaborative interdisciplinary research activities within the Department of Psychiatry and affiliated neuroscience programs
Qualifications
- M.D. or Ph.D. or equivalent degree
- Expertise in neurophysiology, systems neuroscience, translational neuroimaging, or related fields
Preferred skills
- Prior experience with translational neuroscience research
- Experience with in vivo imaging, electrophysiology, computational analysis, or neuromodulation approaches
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to work collaboratively in an interdisciplinary research environment
