Assistant / Associate Professor - Translational Neuroscience

About the role

UTMB’s Department of Translational Neuroscience invites applications for tenure-track faculty positions at the Assistant and/or Associate Professor levels. We seek innovative scientists to advance neuroscience research and its clinical applications, with particular interest in:

• Microbiome and Gut-Brain Axis: research on gut-brain connections in neurological function and disease
• Bioinformatics and Multiomics: analysis of large-scale biological data such as transcriptomics for neurological insights into disease mechanisms and targets
• Biomarkers and Human Tissues and Samples: utilizing human samples for biomarker identification, disease mechanisms, and translational research

Responsibilities

• Establish extramurally funded research programs
• Contribute to the department’s educational mission
• Engage in collaborative initiatives across UTMB

Requirements

• PhD, MD, or MD/PhD in neuroscience or a related field
• Strong record of research accomplishments and publications
• Independent extramural funding
• Commitment to teaching and mentoring
