Position Summary

We are seeking a 9-month, tenure-track Business and Accounting Faculty member at our Chattanooga State campus. The primary duty is to instruct Business and Accounting courses in various formats and locations.

Essential Functions

  • Serve as a member of the Management Department within the Business and Industry Division for the Teaching Excellence Strategic Theme of the College’s Strategic Plan.

  • Select texts, supplemental documents, supplies, and other learning resources, including Open Educational Resources (OER).

  • Create and revise courses and/or curricula as needed.

  • Maintain updated course syllabi.

  • Remain current within the field of assigned instruction, related occupational areas, and technologies.

  • Acquire, maintain, and apply knowledge of current instructional methodologies and materials.

  • Attend scheduled college, divisional, and departmental professional development and in-service activities.

  • Participate in the annual faculty evaluation process.

  • Assist in recruitment, selection, orientation, and evaluation of potential students.

  • Assist in placement activities for employment and/or transfer to four-year institutions.

  • Support student activities.

  • Assist in recruitment and selection of college personnel as assigned.

  • Participate in accreditation, assessment, and performance funding processes.

  • Serve on committees, organizations, and task forces.

  • Develop and maintain cooperative relationships with colleagues.

  • Support and participate in college/division/department meetings, committees, organizations, and task forces to inform decision-making.

  • Develop and maintain cooperative relationships with the community through outreach activities.

  • Facilitate the instructional process.

  • Evaluate students and monitor progress.

  • Utilize the Learning Management System (LMS).

  • Assign mid-term and final grades.

  • Maintain attendance and grade records.

  • Advising students regarding academic preparation and career goals.

  • Support student retention.

  • Maintain required classroom and office hours.

  • Support the responsible fiscal stewardship of funds allocated to the Business Division.

  • Maintain an office environment that is open, inviting, and professional.

  • Perform other job-related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Required: Master’s degree in Business Administration from a regionally accredited institution OR Master’s degree with 18 graduate semester hours in Accounting.

  • Preferred: Previous community college teaching experience, curriculum development experience, and experience teaching Business and/or Accounting courses.

Projected Salary Range

Instructor: $41,555 - $50,900 Commensurate with experience and aligned with Tennessee Board of Regents salary guidelines.
