About the role

Provides instructional training related to 911 Telecommunications/Emergency Medical Dispatch (EMD) from nationally certified 911 curriculum.

Responsibilities

  • Provide instruction and prepare lesson plans based on nationally certified 911 curriculum.
  • Deliver training related to the Public Safety Telecommunications program.
  • Promote students’ development and effective use of skills in areas such as critical and analytical thinking, evaluation, communication, professionalism, customer service, computation, problem solving, and decision-making.
  • Maintain accurate, up-to-date records of student academic and attendance performance.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Associate’s Degree (significant related experience may substitute for education).
  • Minimum of five years of experience in Public Safety Communications.
  • Advanced communication (verbal, written, and interpersonal) and organizational skills.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in Word Processing and PowerPoint Presentation software, as well as Internet and Email basic skills.
  • Ability to assess and grade the progress of students.
  • Sensitivity to respond appropriately to the community.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Associate’s Degree and certification in Telecommunications and EMD.
  • Ability to obtain all required Instructor certifications within 60 days of hire date.

Physical Demands / Working Conditions

  • Work is performed in a normal, professional office environment with adequate lighting, heating, and ventilation.
  • Typically, the employee may sit comfortably to perform duties, involving repetitive motions with hands/fingers using a computer mouse and keyboard.
  • May require some walking, standing, bending, and carrying of light items such as papers, files, pamphlets, or books.
  • Work may also require walking and standing in conjunction with travel to and attendance at meetings and conferences away from the worksite.

Pay

$25.00 per hour.

Schedule

Part-time faculty position. Hours depend on program needs.

If hired, you must reside in the state of Ohio and be within commuting distance of the KeyBank Public Safety Training Center to respond to onsite work demands.
