Instructional Designer I

As an Instructional Designer I, you will modernize how we teach by designing and developing high-impact learning content that delivers measurable performance outcomes. This role leads design projects and directs external instructional designers on technical engineering topics across multiple modalities.
Responsibilities
- Instructional Design & Development (70%)
- Leverage high-impact instructional design methodology to create engaging, interactive learning experiences aligned to business results.
- Develop solutions in a variety of modalities: virtual classrooms, eLearning, video, learning pathways, playlists, and instructor-led training.
- Contribute to the evaluation and selection of learning technologies for the organization.
- Apply the Instructional Design process and support senior team members on projects.
- Project Coordination (20%)
- Manage multiple simultaneous projects using standard learning project management practices and tools (charter, scope, schedule, risk, dashboard).
- Ensure projects are delivered on-time and within scope.
- Performance Consulting (10%)
- Partner with senior learning team members, leaders, sponsors, and subject matter experts to identify learning opportunities that drive business results.
- Produce needs analysis and learner personas to deliver innovative, performance-based learning outcomes.
- Identify opportunities to leverage learning and collaborative technologies to enhance the learner experience.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree from a four-year college or university in Learning, Education, Human Resources, Business, or a related field.
- 1–2 years of instructional design experience.
- Experience with authoring tools and design/development of VILT, eLearning, micro-learning, and ILT.
- Strong knowledge of design/development tools, modalities, and technology.
- Familiarity with the ADDIE model.
- Strong communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- 2–4 years of experience leveraging various design modalities: Virtual Instructor-Led Training (VILT), eLearning, micro-learning, and learning pathways.
- Agile design and project management skills.
- Experience with human resources, leadership, or corporate training topics.
- Proficiency with tools such as Adobe Suite, SnagIt, Webex, Camtasia, Pathway, Cornerstone, Articulate, Vyond, and Intrepid.

Pay
The typical annual base salary for this position ranges from $59,500 to $97,900 in Minnesota. Individual base pay will depend on skills, qualifications, experience, and location.
Schedule
This position is based in Plymouth, MN, and follows a hybrid work model.
