About the role

Instructional Assistant positions available at Schweitzer. Multiple levels (IA I, IA II, IA III) with varying responsibilities supporting students across elementary, secondary, and adult education/CTE programs.

Qualifications

• IA I: List relevant experience on application; previous experience working with groups of children required.
• IA II (mild/moderate): Work with students in Resource, Learning Handicap, or Communicatively Handicap programs. Duties include running small groups, assisting students in large groups in Special Day Class or General Education settings, and supporting teacher needs. Any combination of experience and training providing required knowledge, skills, and abilities accepted.
• IA III (severe/emotionally disturbed): Support students in Learning Handicap or Communicatively Handicap programs, specifically those in emotionally disturbed (ED) classes, autism classes, or assigned to a Behaviorist. Experience working with groups of children required; experience with impaired children or adults highly desirable; coursework in child development highly desirable.
• For IA II and IA III: Any combination of experience and training providing required knowledge, skills, and abilities accepted.
• For some programs: Possession of, or willingness and ability to obtain, a valid California Class C Driver License within 30 days of hire or before driving any equipment/vehicle requiring this license.

Requirements

Non-Title Sites: Must pre-qualify by attaching High School Diploma or equivalent AND one of the following:

• [A] Passing score from San Juan Unified School District's Proficiency Exam (testing date must be April 2005 to current; no other district's exam accepted)
• [B] Official passing score from the California Basic Educational Skills Test (CBEST)

Title I Sites: Must pre-qualify by attaching one of the following:

• [A] Passing score from SJUSD's Proficiency Exam (April 2005 to current; no other district's exam accepted)
• [B] Official passing score from CBEST
• [C] Official transcripts demonstrating completion of two years of college (48 semester/60 quarter units)
• [D] Proof of an A.A. degree (or higher)

Passing the IA Proficiency Test or having CBEST is required regardless of educational background. Foreign college/university degrees/transcripts must have coursework evaluated for U.S. equivalency.

Pay

IA III: $20.64 - $26.02 per hour (CSEA General Unit Salary Schedule)

• Work Hours: Monday - Friday, 8:15 AM - 3:45 PM
