Job Description
Instructional Assistant I / II / III positions are available at various sites within San Juan Unified School District. Positions are part-time, 9-months/year, 206 days/year, 5 days/week, with a length of work day of 6.5 hours, Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM - 2:30 PM.
About the Role
Instructional Assistants support teachers in the classroom by assisting with lesson plans, managing student behavior, and providing additional instruction as needed. They also help prepare and maintain learning environments conducive to teaching and learning.
Responsibilities
- Assist teachers in planning and implementing lessons
- Support students in small and large group settings
- Manage student behavior and provide guidance as needed
- Prepare and maintain learning environments
- Assist with administrative tasks as directed
Qualifications
- Instructional Assistant I: Relevant experience with groups of children.
- Instructional Assistant II: Previous experience working with students in Resource, Learning Handicap, or Communicatively Handicap programs. Duties include running small groups, assisting in large groups, and supporting teachers.
- Instructional Assistant III: Any combination of experience and training providing knowledge, skills, and abilities to support severe/emotionally disturbed students. Experience working with groups of children, impaired children or adults, and coursework in child development is preferred.

Pay
The salary range for Instructional Assistants is (IA II) $18.58 - $24.47 CSEA General Unit Salary.

Materials Required/Requirements
- High School Diploma or equivalent and one document from list A or B for Non-Title Sites.
- Passing score from SJUSD's Proficiency Exam or official passing score from the California Basic Educational Skills Test (CBEST) for Title I Sites.
- OFFICIAL transcripts demonstrating the completion of two years of college (48 semester/60 quarter units) or proof of an A.A. degree for Title I Sites.
- If your degree/transcripts are from a foreign college or university, they must be evaluated for equivalency to a degree/transcripts from an accredited United States college or university.
