About the role
Location: Albert Schweitzer K-5. 1 opening. Permanent, Part‑time position.
Responsibilities
- Provide 1:1 support to students.
- Run small group instruction.
- Assist students in large group settings in both Special Day Class and General Education classrooms.
- Support the teacher’s instructional needs.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Either a passing score on the San Juan Unified School District Proficiency Exam (test date April 2005 – present) or an official passing score on the California Basic Educational Skills Test (CBEST).
- If educated outside the United States, coursework must be evaluated for U.S. equivalency.
- Willingness to obtain a valid California Class C Driver License within 30 days of hire (if required for the assignment).
Qualifications
- Experience working with students served in Resource, Learning Handicap, or Communicatively Handicap programs (mild/moderate support).
- Any combination of experience and training that provides the knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the duties of an Instructional Assistant II.

Pay
Salary range: $19.51 – $24.47 per hour, plus a 5% Hard‑to‑Staff stipend (IA II) according to the CSEA General Unit Salary Schedule.
Schedule
- Work year: 9 months/year, 206 days/year, 5 days/week (Elementary Instructional Assistant – Calendar 18A).
- Work day: 6 hours.
- Work hours: Monday – Friday, 8:30 AM – 2:30 PM.
