About the role

Part‑time Permanent Instructional Assistant II – Special Day Class Support at Albert Schweitzer K‑5. Work with students in Resource, Learning Handicap or Communicatively Handicap programs, running small groups, assisting in large groups in Special Day Class or General Education settings, and supporting teacher needs.

Responsibilities

• Run small group instruction
• Assist students in large group settings (Special Day Class and General Education)
• Support teacher’s classroom needs
• Work with students served in Resource, Learning Handicap or Communicatively Handicap programs (mild/moderate)

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent
• Either a passing score on the San Juan Unified School District Proficiency Exam (test date April 2005 – current) OR an official passing score on the California Basic Educational Skills Test (CBEST)
• Willingness and ability to obtain a valid California Class C Driver License within 30 days of hire if required for the assignment
• If educated outside the United States, coursework must be evaluated for U.S. equivalency

Benefits

Pay

Salary range: $19.51 – $24.47 per hour, plus a 5% Hard‑to‑Staff stipend.

Schedule

Work year: 9 months/year (approximately 206 days), 5 days per week.

Work day: 6.5 hours.

Work hours: Monday – Friday, 8:45 AM – 3:15 PM.
