Responsibilities
- C Conduct outbound telephone outreach to a large portfolio of existing, inactive, and underdeveloped customer accounts.
- C Conduct a high volume of outbound business development activity, averaging 25–40 outbound calls and customer contacts per day.
- Maintain consistent customer engagement, targeting a minimum of 8–12 meaningful live customer conversations per week.
- Generate qualified sales leads and development opportunities that support territory growth objectives and Regional Account Manager success.
- Maintain accurate and timely CRM documentation, ensuring all customer interactions, opportunity updates, and account intelligence are recorded daily.
- Meet established activity, lead generation, and opportunity development KPIs established by management.
- Continuously expand account penetration through proactive outreach, market research, and opportunity identification.
- Provide weekly activity summaries highlighting customer engagement, qualified opportunities, market intelligence, and recommended follow-up actions.
- Engage professionally with technical, procurement, R&D, operations, and commercial stakeholders.
- Identify current product usage, future development projects, formulation challenges, and unmet customer needs.
- Qualify accounts based on strategic fit, technical complexity, growth potential, and timing.
- Identify and develop new opportunities for Regional Account Managers, including development-stage and future-focused projects.
- Capture and summarize opportunity details clearly, accurately, and professionally.
- Document all findings within the CRM system with concise and actionable insights.
- Develop account summaries and opportunity briefs for Regional Account Managers.
- Flag high-priority opportunities and recommend next steps.
- Partner closely with Regional Account Managers to align discovery efforts with regional growth strategies.
- Coordinate effective handoffs for qualified opportunities while ensuring continuity and context.
- Provide ongoing feedback regarding market trends, customer sentiment, and competitive activity.
- Represent Herbstreith & Fox with professionalism, credibility, and confidence.
- Develop a consultative, value-based approach rather than a transactional sales posture.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree required (Business, Marketing, Communications, Food Science, or related field preferred).
- Three to five years of professional sales, business development, account management, or customer-facing commercial experience.
- Experience in B2B sales environments required; food ingredients, specialty chemicals, nutraceuticals, or technical products strongly preferred.
- Strong telephone presence with the ability to engage decision-makers and build credibility quickly.
- Excellent listening, questioning, and diagnostic skills.
- Analytical mindset with the ability to assess opportunity quality and strategic value.
- Strong written communication skills for internal reporting, CRM documentation, and opportunity summaries.
- Highly organized with the ability to manage a large portfolio of accounts and activities simultaneously.
- Self-motivated with the ability to work independently in a remote environment.
- Proficiency with CRM systems and Microsoft Office applications.
