About the role
The Mennel Milling Company is seeking an Ingredients Coordinator to join their Logistics team. Reporting to the organizational chart, this position is responsible for managing inbound and outbound shipments to ensure cost, customer service, and timely delivery. The role also supports food safety programs and the company's mission to provide superior quality, uniformity, and service.
Responsibilities
- Follow food and personal safety rules and regulations, including GMPs, OSHA, HACCP, and the Global Food Safety Initiative.
- Track and order materials in a timely and accurate manner, maintaining appropriate inventory levels.
- Utilize various computer applications, particularly D365 and SAP, for purchasing, receiving, and inventory functions.
- Present and implement ideas to improve material planning, usage, and inventory functions.
- Monitor inventory levels during demand fluctuations and take corrective actions.
- Minimize inventory write-offs, scrap, and waste by proactively using all materials before expiration.
- Work with vendors, procurement, and production to resolve material issues.
- Ensure compliance with purchasing and inventory management standards and procedures.
- Communicate material issues to relevant departments and personnel.
- Involvement in all inventory activities, including physical inventories and cycle counts.
- Work off shifts, weekends, and holidays as needed to ensure material supply or project coordination.
Qualifications
- A high school diploma or equivalent required; a 2-year college degree or technical school coursework and 3 years of related experience preferred.
- Materials management and inventory management experience preferred.
- Materials purchasing background preferred.
- Basic knowledge of production and warehouse operations.
- Strong PC skills, including proficiency in Excel, Word.
- Knowledge of warehouse management and inventory software systems such as SAP, WMS, and Prisma.
- Detail-oriented and strong organizational skills.
- Effective interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to work effectively with vendors, transportation, procurement, and all levels of personnel.
- Demonstrated leadership qualities.
