Infrastructure Coordinator
About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Infrastructure Coordinator to support the execution of complex network infrastructure and telecommunications projects in a large, fast-paced institutional environment. This role combines structured cabling, network infrastructure, construction coordination, vendor management, and project management. The ideal candidate will have hands-on technical experience along with the ability to coordinate multiple projects, vendors, contractors, and internal stakeholders from initial planning through successful completion. This is an excellent opportunity for a professional with 3–5+ years of infrastructure or technical project experience who enjoys working at the intersection of IT, construction, facilities, and telecommunications.
What You'll Do
Infrastructure & Vendor Management — 60%
- Coordinate structured cabling and telecommunications infrastructure projects from planning through completion.
- Develop project scopes, technical specifications, RFP packages, estimates, and budgets.
- Manage external vendors, contractors, and subcontractors performing installation and service work.
- Coordinate installation, relocation, expansion, and modification of copper, coaxial, and fiber-optic cabling systems.
- Review project documentation, job reports, labor, materials, and overall project progress.
- Coordinate material procurement and ensure timely delivery to project sites.
- Work with engineering, operations, facilities, and other internal teams to develop reliable network infrastructure solutions.
- Coordinate technology-related activities associated with renovations, new construction, and infrastructure upgrades.
- Ensure installations meet applicable university standards, building codes, and industry best practices.
- Maintain accurate service requests, project documentation, reports, and troubleshooting records.
- Build strong working relationships with customers, vendors, contractors, and internal stakeholders.
Project Management — 30%
- Define project scope, milestones, timelines, and required resources.
- Coordinate technical teams, business stakeholders, vendors, and contractors throughout the project lifecycle.
- Manage multiple concurrent projects while maintaining priorities, budgets, schedules, and quality standards.
- Identify project risks, resource gaps, dependencies, and potential issues.
- Facilitate issue resolution and escalate challenges when necessary.
- Prepare status updates and communicate project progress to stakeholders.
- Manage change requests and coordinate related or interfacing projects to ensure successful implementation.
Standards & Process Improvement — 10%
- Promote adherence to infrastructure, documentation, and project management standards.
- Educate vendors and project teams on quality expectations and best practices.
- Mentor team members on project processes, tools, and documentation.
- Identify opportunities to improve project execution and operational processes.
What We're Looking For
- 3–5+ years of relevant experience in network infrastructure, structured cabling, telecommunications, construction coordination, or technical project management.
- Strong project management and coordination skills.
- Hands-on understanding of network infrastructure and structured cabling.
- Comprehensive knowledge of BCSI Standards.
- Familiarity with blueprints, construction documentation, and AutoCAD.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Excellent problem-solving, organizational, and decision-making abilities.
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects, resources, vendors, and competing priorities.
- Strong documentation skills and exceptional attention to detail.
- Ability to work effectively with technical teams, facilities, contractors, vendors, and business stakeholders.
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field preferred.
- Experience in higher education is a plus.
Preferred Qualifications
The following are highly valued but not all required:
- Current RCDD certification.
- Inactive RCDD or RCDD LAN Specialist, Installer, or Technician credentials.
- Construction or related field experience.
- Extensive knowledge of fiber optic, copper, and coaxial cabling.
- Ortronics manufacturer certification.
- Experience with CATV, CCTV, LAN, VoIP, or Audio/Video systems.
- Experience with McCormick estimating software or a similar system.
- ITIL or PMP certification.
- Licensed electrician.
Pay & Schedule
- Pay rate: $41.96–$62.94/hour
- Location: Boston, MA
- Work model: Hybrid, 4 days onsite
- Schedule: Monday – Friday, 1st shift, 40 hours/week
- Duration: 12-month contract, potential for extension
- Candidates must be available to work occasional hours outside the regular schedule and some holidays when required to support essential services.
