About the role
The Information Technology Specialist position at the Reno-Sparks Indian Colony supports the Site Manager in maintaining the computer and network systems essential for the Reno Sparks Tribal Health Center (RSTHC). This role involves working with various technologies, including NextGen software, Dentrix EDR, and Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems, ensuring they operate efficiently to serve the community.
Responsibilities
- Receive and prioritize end-user help requests via telephone and email in a courteous manner.
- Document all pertinent end user identification information, including name, department, contact information, and nature of problem or issue.
- Build rapport and elicit problem details from help desk customers.
- Prioritize and schedule problems. Escalate problems (when required) to the appropriately experienced technician.
- Record, track, and document the help desk request problem-solving process, including all successful and unsuccessful decisions made, and actions taken, through to final resolution.
- Apply diagnostic utilities to aid in troubleshooting.
- Access software updates, drivers, knowledge bases, and frequently asked questions resources on the Internet to aid in problem resolution.
- Identify and learn appropriate software and hardware used and supported by the organization.
- Perform hands-on fixes at the desktop level, including installing and upgrading software, installing hardware, implementing file backups, and configuring systems and applications.
- Install anti-virus software.
- Carefully coordinate and process all network and computer maintenances as well as setting maintenance schedules for preventive measures.
- Troubleshoot NextGen, RPMS, EHR Graphical User Interface (GUI), network and hardware problems.
- Be able to install Cat6 computer lines into new locations and complete terminations.
- Familiarity with Domain controllers and end user modifications and problem solving.
- Have the ability to troubleshoot DNS problems and take appropriate action to fix errors.
- Work with Dentrix Electronic Dental Records System.
- Supports and works with I.T. Manager acts as Network Administrator in the I.T. Manager's absence.
- Installs and performs repairs to hardware, software and peripheral equipment, following design or installation specifications.
- Performs routine maintenance of all server and networking equipment.
- Work with Active Directory, DHCP, firewall, antivirus, and other system support requirements.
- Work within the Shortel Phone System when needed.
- Performs daily backups and disaster recovery as needed.
- Other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university with a major in computer sciences, and five years of direct experience in computer networks, computer repairs, server, software, and up-to-date with computer technology. 10 years of experience will be considered in lieu of college requirements.
- Must be computer proficient on various types of computer applications and ability to utilize programs like Microsoft Office, server and desktop operating systems.
- Working knowledge of SQL and Server 2008 and 2012.
- Must have A+ certifications, Cisco Certified.
- Certification in Telecommunication.
- Knowledge and certification of Fiber optic cabling.
- Must be able to work a varied shift and after 5 p.m. on occasion on short notice.
- Must be bondable and have a valid Nevada driver's license with no moving violations in the past year and no limitations.
- Knowledge of current healthcare industry Privacy Act and Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) security requirements.
Qualifications
- Indian preference applies.
- Must pass a recent TB test.
