Information Technology Manager
About the role
Brookings Municipal Utilities (BMU) is seeking an experienced and forward-thinking Information Technology (IT) Manager to provide strategic, operational, and managerial leadership for our IT department. This position is responsible for ensuring the reliability, security, and effectiveness of the organization’s IT and Operational Technology (OT) systems and services. The IT Manager will lead technology initiatives, oversee cybersecurity programs, support critical business systems, and collaborate with organizational leadership to leverage technology solutions that improve efficiency, service delivery, and business outcomes. The position reports directly to the Executive Vice President/General Manager.
Responsibilities
- Provide strategic, operational, and managerial leadership for the IT department.
- Ensure the reliability, security, and effectiveness of IT and Operational Technology (OT) systems and services.
- Lead technology initiatives and oversee cybersecurity programs.
- Support critical business systems and collaborate with leadership to improve efficiency and service delivery.
- Manage technology modernization efforts and business continuity planning.
- Oversee IT/OT operations and vendor partnerships.
- Develop and manage IT budgets and staff.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Business, or a related field.
- Significant experience leading a technology department.
- Demonstrated success managing enterprise systems and strategic technology planning.
- Experience with cybersecurity initiatives, technology modernization, and business continuity planning.
- Strong leadership, communication, and management skills.
- Industry-recognized security certifications are a plus.

Pay
$125,000–$150,000 annually, depending on qualifications.
