About the Role

The Minnesota State Lottery is seeking a talented supervisor in our Information Technology (IT) department. The position is responsible for the design, planning, implementation, and maintenance of all Minnesota Lottery hardware infrastructure, network and desktop systems. The position is responsible for assisting in the creation and development of hardware and software purchases and budgets, security, network, and disaster recovery plans, policies and procedures. The incumbent in this position will lead a team of infrastructure engineers and technicians, providing guidance, monitorship, and fostering a collaborative work environment. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience with managing and troubleshooting complex infrastructure systems, as well as strong leadership and communication skills.

Responsibilities

  • Manage network architects and engineers, cloud architects/engineers and systems engineers to ensure all infrastructure related tasks are completed timely and accurately.
  • Responsible for planning and budget of $2M and strategic planning.
  • Lead the development and implementation of an Infrastructure that meets agency needs, Aware of current technology threats and Cybersecurity best practices to protect against penetration.
  • Developing a Cloud migration road map.
  • Develop policies and procedures for Infrastructure; recommend systems controls and security measures.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve infrastructure-related issues in a timely manner
  • Manage vendor relationships critical to Minnesota State Lottery (MSL) Infrastructure environment.
  • Miscellaneous projects and other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

Position requires a minimum of four (4) years of experience working in IT infrastructure or IT infrastructure management, providing development, support, and maintenance of new or existing technology systems, applications, data and security. Experience must include:

  • Two (2) years of lead work or supervisory experience.
  • Experience working in a complex IT Infrastructure environment including network, cloud, database, storage, backup, hypervisors, and virtual servers.
  • Expert knowledge of network, firewalls, load balancers, hypervisors, servers, storage and backup & recovery services.
  • Hands-on experience with servers, load balancers, firewalls, and other infrastructure technologies.
  • Excellent human relations and collaboration skills to effectively lead and work with individuals and work teams.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with individuals with a wide range of backgrounds, who do not share your same culture, ethnicity, language, or other common experiences.

Note: An associate's degree in information technology or a related field may substitute for six (6) months of experience a bachelor's degree may substitute for one (1) year of experience; master's degree may substitute for eighteen (18) months of experience; Doctorate degree may substitute for two (2) years of experience.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or higher in Information Technology or related field.
  • Experience with cloud-based infrastructure (e.g., AWS, Azure).
  • Experience managing a workforce in a hybrid environment.
  • Proficiency in creating strategic roadmaps and establishing priorities within a continuously evolving system environment.
  • Experience planning, budgeting, and procuring hardware and software.
  • Supervisory experience or managerial experience which includes oversight of staff. (e.g., selection, orientation, training, coaching, performance management, etc.)
