About the role

Bring your industrial painting expertise to our state-of-the-art 16’ x 30’ semi-downdraft, pressurized industrial paint booth. This advanced facility features a crane slot for efficient handling of large components, a cure mode for accelerated throughput, and a two-component electronic paint proportioning system that enables rapid color changes and simplified cleanup when switching between standard colors and primer. In this role, you will prepare and apply coatings to precision-machined components, castings, weldments, and fabricated assemblies, making you a critical contributor to the production of Unisig’s world-class machine tools. Attention to detail, quality workmanship, and efficient workflow are essential to success in this position.

Responsibilities

  • Interpret and follow shop prints, travelers, and related documentation to ensure all painting requirements are met.
  • Mix paints according to specifications and apply coatings using proper techniques to achieve required finishes.
  • Prepare parts for painting by masking, plugging, deburring, and cleaning; remove protective materials after application.
  • Safely hang parts on racks or trolleys using appropriate hooks and methods, ensuring proper load distribution.
  • Apply coatings using air-assisted, airless, and conventional spray equipment within a controlled booth environment.
  • Maintain paint booth, tools, and work areas in a clean, organized, and safe condition in accordance with preventive maintenance schedules.
  • Consistently demonstrate high productivity, attention to detail, and commitment to quality standards.
  • Operate material handling equipment as required, including forklifts and overhead cranes.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • 5 years of experience in an industrial painting environment.
  • Self-directed, organized, productive, strong attention to detail, and pride in workmanship are crucial for success.

Physical Requirements/Working Conditions

Frequently lift 25 pounds unassisted. Occasionally lifts 50 pounds unassisted. Exposure to solvents, cleaners, paints, and other chemicals of both hazardous and non-hazardous properties. Proper personal protective equipment is required. Regularly stands and moves throughout the paint area for up to 8 hours. Frequently bends, stoops, kneels, reaches, and stretches. Regularly uses depth perception, peripheral vision, close focus, and color discernment.
