About the Role

Responsible for maintaining and repairing boiler/chiller systems, cooling towers, plumbing systems, and low-pressure steam systems. This role supports campus-wide building maintenance, responds to weather-related incidents, and utilizes building automation systems such as Metasys and Automated Logic. The technician must work independently and participate in an on-call rotation.

Responsibilities

  • Install, maintain, and repair residential and commercial plumbing and HVAC equipment consistent with plumbing, mechanical, and electrical codes.
  • Perform routine maintenance on all types of HVAC equipment, including boilers, chillers, and cooling towers.
  • Demonstrate strong knowledge of BAS/EMS (Building Automation Systems/Energy Management Systems), with preference for experience in Metasys/Automated Logic.
  • Own and manage the Preventive Maintenance program within the assigned area.
  • Prioritize and complete all work order requests in a timely and effective manner.
  • Recognize and report hazardous conditions requiring immediate action.
  • Coordinate assigned work orders with other departments, on-ground residents, guests, and employees.
  • Work with minimal supervision and demonstrate self-motivation.
  • Adhere to all company policies and procedures, including safety guidelines and compliance with hazardous materials handling and disposal regulations.
  • Participate in after-hours, weekends, and on-call rotation to meet the demands of the Maintenance department.
  • Utilize an electronic time management system to input time and attendance.
  • Assist other maintenance personnel as needed for work order completion.
  • Demonstrate customer service skills in all department interactions and work order requests.
  • Assist in campus snow removal as required.
  • Estimate and provide recommendations on building systems for repair costs and projects in conjunction with the Supervisor and Director.

Requirements

  • Minimum high school diploma or GED equivalent.
  • Vocational or technical school in heating, ventilating, or air conditioning strongly preferred.
  • Current Refrigeration Transition and Recovery Universal Certification covering Type I, Type II, and Type III equipment.
  • Boiler certification or ability to acquire within the first year of employment.
  • Water Treatment Certification or ability to acquire within two years of employment.
  • Valid driver’s license.
  • Minimum of 5 years' experience in industrial mechanical, electrical, and plumbing trades.
  • Ability to repair and replace pumps, motors, and HVAC equipment.
  • Minimum of 5 years' experience troubleshooting and identifying cost-effective solutions.
  • Chiller and low-pressure steam experience preferred.
  • Proven interpersonal and communication skills to interact effectively at all organizational levels.
  • Proficiency with Excel and Microsoft programs.
  • Basic computer skills, including data entry in an electronic time management system.
