About the role

The ideal candidate will support industrial facilities with 5+ years of experience in industrial maintenance, particularly in water/wastewater treatment operations.

Responsibilities

  • Carry out advanced technical tasks associated with water/wastewater treatment operations and maintenance.
  • Career forward, coordinate and lead activities related to maintenance and management processes, support process optimization for efficient workflow.
  • Create and maintain standard operating procedures (SOPs); support maintainability reviews to ensure smooth operation.
  • Ensure process optimization for efficient workflow.
  • Apply knowledge of hazardous waste treatment and management protocols to workplace procedures.
  • Create and maintain standard operating procedure and job hazard analysis documentation.
  • Oversee regulatory compliance within the operational scope.
  • Perform field sampling and data collection for analysis.
  • Oversee staff augmentation as required.
  • Conduct operability and safety audit and reviews to ensure smooth operation.
  • Flexibility to adapt and execute various additional assignments based on evolving needs.

Qualifications

  • Provide guidance on day-to-day preventive and corrective maintenance practices at wastewater treatment plants, pump stations, and related facilities.
  • Coordinate and lead activities related to maintenance and management processes, support process optimization for efficient workflow.
  • Create and maintain standard operating procedures (SOPs); support maintainability reviews to ensure smooth operation.
  • Oversee regulatory compliance within the operational scope; apply knowledge of hazardous waste treatment and management protocols to workplace procedures.
  • Perform field sampling and data collection for analysis, as needed to support operational troubleshooting and optimization.
  • Oversee staff augmentation as required and coordinate work activities to meet evolving operational needs.
  • Inspect, diagnose, and troubleshoot process equipment (e.g., pumps, blowers, mixers, motors, grinders, valves, gates, actuators) to restore service and increase reliability.
  • Identify routine preventive maintenance needs (lubrication, alignment checks, belt/drive inspection, seal and bearing checks) and document findings and follow-up actions.
  • Supporting instrumentation and controls upkeep by performing basic checks and coordinating needs (e.g., calibration support, sensor cleaning, verifying signals/alarms), escalating complex issues to I&C/SCADA specialists.
  • Use of a CMMS/work order system to evaluate maintenance work; identify anticipated parts usage, labor, and specialty subcontractors.
  • Coordinate with operations staff to plan equipment outages, work sequences, and return-to-service verification.
  • Avoidance of mechanical malfunctions affecting pumps, valves, actuators, and other process equipment.
  • Communicate and coordinate with project teams including engineers, operators, subject matter specialists, and client management to plan work and report status.
  • Independently manage assignments to meet safety, schedule, quality, and budget expectations; contribute to maintenance work plans and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Mentorship May provide mentorship, guidance, support, and knowledge-sharing to help less experienced team members develop their skills and grow within their roles.

Skills and Competencies

  • Comprehensive knowledge of water/wastewater treatment plant operations and maintenance.
  • Proficient in process optimization and efficient management of resources.
  • Strong understanding and execution of hazardous waste treatment and management procedures.
  • Skill in operational audit procedures, including operability and safety audits and reviews.
  • Demonstrated computer skills for data entry, reporting, troubleshooting, and optimization.
  • Experience managing and troubleshooting industrial/mechanical equipment; wastewater, water, or similar process facilities experience preferred.
  • Experience conducting condition assessments of equipment.
  • Experience maintaining and troubleshooting industrial/mechanical equipment; wastewater, water, or similar process facilities experience preferred.
  • Understanding of asset management and assist with development of an asset management program.
  • Ability to work both independently and in coordinated teams, including collaborating closely with operators, engineers, and subcontractors.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and competing priorities while maintaining attention to detail and strong follow-through.
  • Eagerness to be onsite in field offices and perform hands-on work at various sites, including outdoor work and variable weather conditions.
  • Clear written and verbal communication skills; able to document work performed and communicate equipment status, risks, and next steps.
  • Proficiency with standard software (e.g., Microsoft Office) and comfort learning CMMS/work order tools; ability to collect and interpret basic operating data.
  • Strong troubleshooting and analytical skills with the ability to identify root causes and recommend practical corrective actions.
