Industrial Heat Treater - 2nd Shift

About the role

Based in South Windsor, CT, this position performs essential job functions associated with heat treatment under the direction of the Production Manager to meet customer specifications, including assisting other employees as needed. Depending on skills and experience, the role may be filled at one of the following levels:

  • Level C: Entry Level (0 to 24 months of heat treating experience): Assists with operations, control, and monitoring of heat treating and related equipment as required and written in procedures on shop traveler and/or customer paperwork.
  • Level B: Mid-Level (2 to 3 years of experience in heat treating): Operates, controls, and monitors heat treating equipment as required and written in procedures on shop traveler and/or customer paperwork.
  • Level A: Senior-Level (3 to 5 years of experience and a deep understanding of heat treating): Independently operates, controls, and monitors heat treating equipment, leads initiatives, mentors junior team members, and makes strategic contributions to the department.

Responsibilities

  • Prepares work for processing; loads and unloads furnaces, bins, fixtures, baskets, etc.
  • Brings any unusual problems or irregularities to the attention of the supervisor.
  • Practices and promotes safety and good housekeeping.
  • Performs other tasks as assigned or dictated by position.
  • Responsible for the care and treatment of customer inventory, performing duties in a safe and responsible manner to prevent loss or damage.
  • Must report for work on time, follow directions, interact effectively with co-workers, understand and follow rules and procedures, and accept constructive criticism.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Working knowledge of metallurgy, temperatures, etc.
  • Must satisfy ITAR compliance requirements: U.S. Citizenship or Permanent Resident Card.
  • Ability to work overtime or any shift, including weekends.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain forklift operation certification.
  • Must demonstrate the ability to read, write, and communicate in English.

Physical & Mental Demands

  • Must be able to work in a standing position for extended periods in an industrial environment.
  • Ability to bend, pull, stoop, and reach to perform functions.
  • Ability to lift up to 35 lbs.
  • May be exposed to heat, fumes, noise, and humidity.
  • Must have the cognitive and mental capacity to perform essential job functions.
  • Must be able to communicate effectively orally and in writing.
  • Visual acuity to read documents, computer screens, files, etc.
  • Ability to hear in person and via phone.
