About the role
Pacific Fusion is a startup founded in 2023 dedicated to developing a pulser-driven inertial fusion system for clean energy. The company has raised over $900M from investors and is assembling a team of experts to achieve its ambitious goals.
Responsibilities
- Manage all indirect purchasing activities, including consumables, office supplies, shop supplies, maintenance items, minor tooling, equipment, and miscellaneous operational purchases.
- Obtain quotes, evaluate vendors, issue purchase orders, and coordinate timely delivery of goods and services.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with suppliers, contractors, and service providers.
- Cook up facility-related services and operational support vendors.
- Maintain inventory levels of consumables, office supplies, and frequently used indirect materials to ensure uninterrupted operations.
- Track purchase orders, invoices, receipts, and purchasing records while partnering with Finance to ensure accurate documentation and timely payment.
- Coordinate deliveries and assist in resolving vendor, shipping, or invoice discrepancies.
- Support office administration
- Aid in employee onboarding
- Maintain vendor files, purchasing documentation, and operational records.
- Identify opportunities to improve purchasing efficiency, standardize commonly used items, negotiate cost savings, and streamline operational processes.
- Support special projects and other operational initiatives as assigned.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent required; associate’s or bachelor’s degree preferred.
- 3+ years of experience in purchasing, procurement, operations coordination, office administration, or a related role.
- Experience managing vendors and coordinating service providers.
- Strong organizational and time management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and the ability to quickly learn ERP, purchasing, and inventory management systems.
- Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively across multiple departments.
- Willingness to roll up your sleeves and support a variety of operational needs in a growing startup environment.
Physical Requirements
- This position requires the physical ability to squat, reach, climb, prolonged periods of standing, frequent lifting of objects up to 50 lbs, and regular hands-on work with tools and equipment in the laboratory.
Bonus points for
- Experience supporting manufacturing, engineering, aerospace, energy, industrial, or technology organizations.
- Experience using ERP, purchasing, or inventory management systems.
- Knowledge of purchasing best practices, purchase order management, vendor management, and invoice reconciliation.
- Experience negotiating pricing, lead times, and service agreements.
- Familiarity with facilities coordination and contractor management.
- Experience supporting continuous improvement initiatives and developing operational processes from the ground up.
- Strong customer-service mindset with a proactive, solution-oriented approach.
- Ability to thrive in a dynamic startup environment where responsibilities evolve as the company grows.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this role is $33.03 - $49.57 USD. Total compensation and benefits include: industry-competitive salary, equity plan, 6% employer 401k matching, generous paid time off (including sick leave, vacation, paid family leave), medical, dental, and vision insurance.
