About the role
The Indirect Lender plays a crucial role in handling high volumes of indirect loan applications from dealers, utilizing analytical judgment for risk assessment and pricing decisions. They are responsible for evaluating and verifying loan data to ensure compliance with regulations and requirements.
Responsibilities
- Evaluate and verify loan data to ensure compliance with regulations and requirements.
- Maintain excellent dealer relations and a positive work environment.
- Support AI-driven solutions to improve efficiency and accuracy in risk pricing.
- Provide quality service to VyStar members by making credit decisions within prescribed loan authority.
- Interact directly with third-party indirect vendors, participating dealerships, and members to facilitate the loan application and approval process.
- Ensure compliance with state and federal lending laws and maintain quality underwriting to achieve loss ratios within targeted thresholds.
- Collaborate with the Indirect Sales Team, Indirect Disbursing team, and assist in developing and building relationships with over 400 dealers and third-party vendors.
- Make credit decisions and risk mitigation of loan applications within approval limits.
- Analyze and underwrite Indirect Luxury loan applicants for creditworthiness.
- Review and analyze individual and corporate tax returns and business financial statements to determine qualifying income on credit applications.
- Collaborate with internal departments and serve as a liaison for audit and compliance issues.
- Identify and make recommendations for process improvements, increased efficiencies, and quality service delivery.
- Understand and comply with Credit Union policy, laws, regulations, and the bank’s BSA/AML.
- Perform to all established performance metrics and goals as outlined by department management and applicable policy and procedures.

Requirements
- 2-4 years' experience underwriting Indirect consumer loans, with established loan authority; 2 years Indirect experience preferred.
- A High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel and various loan application platforms.
- Positive, well-developed communication skills, both written and oral, and excellent analytical skills.
- Good organizational and active listening skills.
- The ability to work in a fast-paced environment and work under the philosophy of "people helping people."
- Professional conduct and appearance.
- Self-motivation.
Skills
- Advanced knowledge in Indirect luxury item underwriting, large dollar loans.
- Ability to analyze, underwrite, and evaluate Indirect Luxury loan applicants for creditworthiness.
- Ability to accurately review and analyze individual and corporate tax returns and business financial statements.
- Ability to identify and recommend opportunities for AI application.
- Ability to work independently and effectively as a team member in a high-demand, deadline-driven, multi-task environment.
