Income Maintenance Caseworker - Philadelphia County Assistance Office

Responsibilities
- Evaluate applications and determine eligibility for programs such as financial assistance, Medicaid, SNAP, LIHEAP, Nursing Home Care, and Waivers
- Conduct phone and in-person interviews to gather information and understand customer circumstances
- Interpret and apply state and federal regulations to ensure accurate case decisions
- Enter information into automated systems and perform manual calculations for case processing
- Write clear and thorough case comments to record changes and document decisions
- Complete all assigned work within required timeframes and established procedures
Qualifications
Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:
- Four years of experience in interviewing or work requiring the analysis and interpretation of data; or
- A bachelor’s degree; or
- Any equivalent combination of experience and training.
Applicants will be considered to have met the educational requirements once they are within 3 months of graduating with a qualifying degree.
Other Requirements:
- You must meet the PA residency requirement.
- You must be able to perform essential job functions.
Legal Requirements:
- A conditional offer of employment will require submission of criminal history reports.
- You must pass a background investigation.
- This position will have access to Federal Tax Information (FTI) and is subject to the provisions of IRS Publication 1075 (Pub 1075) which requires you to pass an enhanced background check prior to beginning employment.
Schedule
Full-time employment, 37.5 hours per week
Work hours are 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM, Monday – Friday, with a 60-minute lunch. This may change based on operational needs. Overtime and travel as operationally necessary.
Telework
This position may be eligible to telework part time. Specific details of the telework schedule will be discussed during the interview process. In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania. If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to a district office in Philadelphia, PA. The ability to telework is subject to change at any time.
Work Conditions
Assigned duties are performed in a controlled office environment. In counties with district offices, employees may be reassigned to different work sites due to operational needs. Reassignments will be made in compliance with contract language.
Pay
Selected candidates who are new to employment with the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania will begin employment at the starting annual salary of $53,008.00 (before taxes).
