All DSS positions are subject to reallocation contingent upon funding, agency needs and client population and may require work during emergency or disaster situations, including overnight shelter staffing.

Responsibilities

• Conduct interviews with clients to understand their situation and determine eligibility for vital assistance programs.
• Verify, document and key information to ensure services are delivered accurately and per policy guidelines.
• Help clients retain life‑sustaining benefits like food and medical assistance by maintaining up‑to‑date, detailed case records.
• Support and guide people during their most vulnerable moments and connect them to other community resources.
• Manage an active caseload while following policies and procedures that help maximize state and federal support.

Qualifications

• Graduation from high school and three years of paraprofessional, clerical, or other public‑contact experience that included negotiating, interviewing, explaining information, gathering and compiling data, analysis of data, and/or performance of mathematical or legal tasks.
• Graduation from high school and two years of similar experience with at least one year in an income‑maintenance program.
• Graduation from an accredited associate‑degree program in Human Services Technology, Social Services Associate, Paralegal Technology, Business Administration, Secretarial Science, or a closely related field; or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
• To fully qualify as an IMC II, at least one year of experience as an Income Maintenance Caseworker, or an equivalent combination of training and experience, is required.
