Imaging Service Engineer I (Boston, MA)

About the role

As an Imaging Service Engineer I, you will perform scheduled and unscheduled service work on systems within a designated service area, with guidance from technical support and direction from the Area Service Manager. The role involves preventative maintenance, installations, de-installations, and administrative duties while maintaining strong customer relations and compliance with regulatory standards.

Responsibilities

• Performs preventative maintenance as directed.
• Handles unscheduled maintenance with assistance from technical support.
• Works independently on preventative maintenance but requires assistance for unscheduled repairs.
• Installs and de-installs products and peripheral equipment with minimal assistance.
• Maintains excellent working relationships with field personnel, home office staff, and management.
• Communicates effectively with the management team to escalate issues and customer concerns.
• Completes administrative duties, including electronic expense reports, timecards, work orders, service appointments, parts inventory, and training.
• Ensures timely and accurate completion of all paperwork per Fujifilm and FDA policies.
• Maintains daily customer communications to ensure resolution and follow-up for satisfaction.
• Uses the escalation process to resolve service delivery issues and conducts root cause analysis.
• Works occasional odd hours, overtime, and travels as required.
• Maintains exceptional customer relations and promotes Fujifilm’s reputation.
• Manages assigned tools, test equipment, and spare parts, including timely returns.
• Complies with U.S. FDA medical device regulations, ISO 13485 standards, and other applicable laws.
• Meets vendor credentialing requirements for hospital and facility access.
• Performs other duties as assigned by the Area Service Manager.

Requirements

• Associate’s degree in electrical engineering, electronics, computer science, or equivalent experience.
• Minimum one year of field service experience.
• Knowledge of assigned equipment for timely repairs and effective maintenance.
• Active listening skills and above-average customer service abilities.
• Strong organizational and administrative skills; ability to maintain FDA and company documentation standards.
• Excellent analytical and communication skills, including explaining technical issues clearly.
• Proficiency with test equipment (e.g., oscilloscope, meter, diagnostic testers).
• Valid driver’s license and safe driving record.

Physical Requirements

• Work Environment: Medical, clinical, and construction sites; exposure to high magnetic fields (up to 3 Tesla), which may affect ferrous medical implants.
• Standing/Walking: Frequent and prolonged.
• Sitting: Frequent and prolonged (e.g., driving, flying).
• Lifting/Carrying: Infrequent, periodic lifting of 1–60 lbs. (e.g., tools, diagnostic equipment, components).
• Pushing/Pulling: Rare, periodic force (e.g., pushing 1000-lb patient tables or 600–6000-lb MRI cabinets with ~30 lbs. manual force).
• Bending: Occasional, prolonged low-back bending.
• Reaching: Rare above-shoulder (e.g., accessing 6-foot-high MRI components); occasional below-shoulder.
• Kneeling/Crawling/Crouching: Occasional, prolonged (e.g., wiring, accessing lower MRI panels).
• Climbing: Rare, periodic (e.g., 3-step ladder for upper MRI panels).
• Balancing: Rare, periodic (e.g., standing on ladders).
• Twisting: Rare, periodic low-back twisting.

Pay

$32.69–$38.46 per hour.
