Full-time, benefits-eligible position based in the Greater Charlotte and potentially Winston-Salem markets. 40 hours per week.
About the Role
Field position for skilled imaging service technicians with five or more years of experience servicing and maintaining Diagnostic Ultrasound equipment, particularly Cardiac and/or Diagnostic Ultrasound. Additional general imaging/x-ray service experience is a plus.
Responsibilities
- Analyzes, troubleshoots, and repairs highly complex diagnostic and therapeutic imaging equipment and systems using established electronic test and measurement techniques.
- Installs, calibrates, and tests new imaging equipment and/or systems, with a focus on complex Diagnostic Imaging equipment.
- Performs general service on imaging equipment in accordance with corporate procedures, manufacturer recommendations, physicists’ specifications, and applicable regulations.
- Interacts with clinical staff to ensure needs are met and provides technical support for the use of highly complex imaging devices.
- Acts as a technical resource for Biomedical Technicians and Imaging Technicians to foster their growth in ability and responsibility.
- Assists in training Biomedical Equipment Technicians to provide first call on imaging equipment.
- Documents and maintains accurate records of inspections, repairs, and adjustments performed on equipment.
- Installs or assists in the installation of new imaging equipment, modifications, tubes, transformers, etc.
- Trains imaging staff on the safe and proper use of equipment.
- Coordinates with manufacturers' representatives to obtain technical product information.
- Works with radiation physicists for equipment quality assurance testing, calibration, and disposal as part of site licensing requirements.
- Assists imaging staff in the selection process for new equipment purchases and installations, including site visits and meetings with manufacturers.
- Makes recommendations for capital equipment replacements to Clinical Engineering Leadership.
- Requests/orders necessary repair and spare parts according to established procedures.
- Escalates situations beyond their scope of knowledge or responsibility to appropriate staff.
- Assists in developing policies and procedures related to imaging equipment maintenance and use.
- Participates in research projects and new imaging equipment evaluations.
Requirements
- Valid driver’s license issued by the Division of Motor Vehicles.
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Typically requires 2 years of experience in biomedical imaging, including digital imaging and networking technology.
Skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word and Excel) or similar products.
- Knowledge of networking technology.
- Ability to multi-task several projects.
- Excellent human relations and communication skills.
- Demonstrated leadership ability.
- Use of personal vehicle for travel to various sites is required.
Physical Requirements and Working Conditions
- Walks, stands, sits, lifts, bends, and reaches above shoulders throughout the day.
- Must be able to:
- Lift up to 50 lbs. from floor to waist.
- Lift up to 20 lbs. over the head.
- Carry up to 40 lbs. a reasonable distance.
- Push/pull with 30 lbs. of force.
- Perform a sliding transfer of 150 lbs. with a second person present.
- Work environment may contain dust, dirt, fumes, and odors.
- Exposure to mechanical, electrical, and chemical hazards, as well as blood and body fluids; protective clothing may be required.
- Operates all equipment necessary to perform the job.
- Travel required; exposure to road and weather conditions.
Pay
Pay range: $38.20 - $57.30 per hour.
