About the role

We are seeking an experienced IBM i (AS/400) professional with strong Insurance domain expertise to support enterprise applications and business-critical systems.

Responsibilities

  • Analyze business requirements and translate them into detailed technical specifications and development tasks.
  • Support and enhance enterprise applications running on the IBM i (AS/400) platform.
  • Perform requirements analysis, impact assessments, functional specification preparation, and defect triage.
  • Develop, maintain, and support applications using RPG, RPGLE, CLLE, and DB2 for i.
  • Support batch processing, production issues, application troubleshooting, and ongoing maintenance activities.
  • Collaborate with business stakeholders, developers, QA teams, and production support teams to deliver high-quality solutions.
  • Participate in code reviews, documentation, testing, release activities, and application support.
  • Understand and support insurance business processes, including policy administration and related systems.

Qualifications

  • 10+ years of experience working with IBM i (AS/400) applications.
  • Strong hands-on experience with:
    • IBM i (AS/400)
    • RPG / RPGLE
    • CLLE
    • DB2 for i
    • Batch processing
    • Enterprise application development and production support
  • Strong experience in:
    • Requirements analysis
    • Impact assessment
    • Functional and technical specification preparation
    • Defect triage and issue resolution
    • Production support and troubleshooting
  • Ability to translate complex business requirements into clear technical specifications and development tasks.
  • Strong communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong Insurance domain experience is required, particularly within Policy Administration environments.

Preferred / Good-to-Have Skills

  • Experience with IBM i modernization initiatives and legacy application transformation.
  • Experience with RPG refactoring, API enablement, and code standardization.
  • Familiarity with AI-assisted software engineering tools for:
    • Code analysis
    • Business rule extraction
    • Documentation generation
    • Impact analysis
    • Developer productivity improvement
  • Working knowledge of DevOps practices, including:
    • Source control management
    • CI/CD pipelines
    • Automated testing
    • Release automation
  • Strong understanding of the Insurance domain, including:
    • Policy Administration Systems
    • Policy lifecycle
    • Billing
    • Policy servicing
    • Underwriting
    • Related insurance business processes
