About the role
Johnson Controls, Inc. is seeking skilled HVAC Mechanics to support the growth of its HVAC business in North America. The position offers opportunities to work on both light and heavy commercial teams with advanced equipment.
Responsibilities
- Perform maintenance, repair, and replacement services on commercial heating and cooling systems.
- Partner with Journeymen in the repair of centrifugal, steam turbines, and open-drive screw chillers.
- Provide solutions and recommendations to ensure facility efficiency, including upselling opportunities.
- Write and communicate quotes to customers and participate in JCI’s Service Plus Rewards program.
- Pass a knowledge examination to assess proficiencies and enroll in training programs to gain knowledge in HVAC products and sales quoting.
- Work with other mechanics, servicemen, and apprentices to provide comprehensive service to customers.
Requirements
- Must be a member or willing to join the United Association of Journeymen and Apprentices of the Plumbing and Pipe Fitting Industry of the United States and Canada, AFL-CIO.
- Minimum of three (3) years of commercial and/or industrial mechanical troubleshooting experience in the HVAC industry.
- Experience with rooftop units, pumps, fans, towers, boilers, chillers, compressors, plumbing, and mechanical shaft alignment.
- Able to use vibration equipment and perform mechanical shaft alignment.
- Ability to troubleshoot drivelines and provide recommendations for facility efficiency.
- Travel may be required up to 20% to support branch customers.
- Prioritize safety in all forms.
Qualifications
- Universal EPA refrigerants license, applicable state or local licensing, and valid driver's license.

Benefits
The position is a Bargaining Unit Position with a pay range of $41.18 hourly rate determined by the Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA)/rate sheet. Benefits are provided through a local labor union aligned with a collective bargaining agreement.
