HVAC Truck Based Journeyman Mechanic (union)

About the role

Johnson Controls, Inc. is seeking skilled HVAC Mechanics to support the growth of its HVAC business in North America. The ideal candidate must have practical work experience in the HVAC industry, including light commercial and/or heavy commercial mechanical equipment.

Responsibilities

• Perform maintenance, repair, and replacement services on commercial heating and cooling systems.
• Partner with Journeymen in the repair of centrifugal, steam turbines, and open-drive screw chillers.
• Provide recommendations and solutions to ensure facilities run efficiently, including upselling opportunities.
• Write and communicate quotes to customers and participate in JCI’s Service Plus Rewards program.
• Pass a knowledge examination to assess proficiencies and enroll in training programs to gain knowledge in HVAC products and sales quoting.
• Work with other local market mechanics, Servicemen, and apprentices.
• Achieve attention to detail through interpersonal, digital, and written skills.

Requirements

• Must be a member or willing to join the United Association of Journeymen and Apprentices of the Plumbing and Pipe Fitting Industry of the United States and Canada, AFL-CIO.
• Minimum of three (3) years commercial and/or industrial, mechanical troubleshooting experience in the HVAC industry.
• Experience with rooftop units, pumps, fans, towers, boilers, chillers, compressors, plumbing, and mechanical shaft alignment.
• Ability to use vibration equipment and dial indicators for troubleshooting drivelines.
• Travel may be required up to 20% to support branch customer activities, trouble-shooting, installation, and repair.

Qualifications

• Universal EPA refrigerants license, applicable state or local licensing, and valid driver's license.
