About the role

Johnson Controls, a global leader in thermal management, mission-critical building systems, energy efficiency, and decarbonization, seeks skilled HVAC Mechanics to support its fast-growing HVAC business in North America. The position offers opportunities to work on light commercial and/or heavy commercial teams with advanced equipment.

Responsibilities

  • Perform maintenance, repair, and replacement services on commercial heating and cooling systems.
  • Partner with Journeymen in the repair of centrifugal, steam turbines, and open-drive screw chillers.
  • Provide solutions and recommendations to ensure facilities run efficiently, including upselling opportunities.
  • Write and communicate to customers about facility issues, causes, and corrective actions.
  • Provide quotes to customers and participate in JCI’s Service Plus Rewards program.
  • Enroll in training programs to gain knowledge in HVAC products and sales quoting.
  • Work with other local market mechanics, Servicemen, and apprentices.
  • Achieve and prioritize safety in all forms.

Requirements

  • Must be a member or willing to join the United Association of Journeymen and Apprentices of the Plumbing and Pipe Fitting Industry of the United States and Canada, AFL-CIO.
  • Minimum of three (3) years commercial and/or industrial, mechanical troubleshooting experience in the HVAC industry, including rooftop units, pumps, fans, towers, boilers, chillers, compressors, plumbing, and mechanical shaft alignment.
  • Able to use vibration equipment to troubleshoot drivelines and perform mechanical shaft alignment.
  • Travel may be required up to 20% to support branch customers activities, trouble shooting, installation, and repair.
  • Pass a knowledge examination to assess proficiencies.

Qualifications

  • Prioritize safety in all forms.
  • Universal EPA refrigerants license, applicable state or local licensing, and valid driver's license.

Skills

  • Strong attention to detail through interpersonal, digital, and written skills.
  • Ability to write and communicate effectively to customers about facility issues, causes, and corrective actions.
  • Ability to provide quotes to customers and participate in JCI’s Service Plus Rewards program.
  • Self-starter with a passion/desire to learn and apply on the job.
