HVAC Truck Based Mechanic (union)
About the role
Johnson Controls, a global leader in thermal management, mission-critical building systems, energy efficiency, and decarbonization, seeks skilled HVAC Mechanics to support its fast-growing HVAC business in North America. The role offers opportunities to work on light commercial and/or heavy commercial teams with advanced equipment.
Responsibilities
- Perform maintenance, repair, and replacement services on commercial heating and cooling systems.
- Partner with Journeymen in the repair of centrifugal, steam turbines, and open-drive screw chillers.
- Provide solutions and recommendations to ensure facilities run efficiently, including upselling opportunities.
- Write and communicate to customers about facility issues, causes, and corrective actions.
- Provide quotes to customers and participate in JCI’s Service Plus Rewards program.
- Enroll in training programs to gain knowledge in HVAC products and sales quoting.
- Work with other local market mechanics, Servicemen, and apprentices.
- Achieve and prioritize safety in all forms.
Requirements
- Must be a member or willing to join the United Association of Journeymen and Apprentices of the Plumbing and Pipe Fitting Industry of the United States and Canada, AFL-CIO.
- Minimum of three (3) years commercial and/or industrial, mechanical troubleshooting experience in the HVAC industry, including rooftop units, pumps, fans, towers, boilers, chillers, compressors, plumbing, and mechanical shaft alignment.
- Able to use vibration equipment to troubleshoot drivelines and perform mechanical shaft alignment.
- Travel may be required up to 20% to support branch customers activities, trouble shooting, installation, and repair.
- Prioritize safety in all forms.
Qualifications
- Universal EPA refrigerants license, applicable state or local licensing, and valid driver's license.

Benefits
The position is a Bargaining Unit Position. Pay Range: $36.62 hourly rate determined by the CBA/rate sheet. Benefits are provided through a local labor union aligned with a collective bargaining agreement. The posted salary range reflects the target compensation for this role.
