HVAC Truck Based Technician (union)

About the role

Johnson Controls, Inc. is seeking skilled HVAC Mechanics to support its fast-growing HVAC business in North America. The position offers opportunities to work on light commercial and/or heavy commercial teams with advanced equipment.

Responsibilities

• Perform maintenance, repair, and replacement services on commercial heating and cooling systems.
• Partner with Journeymen in the repair of centrifugal, steam turbines, and absorption machines, open-drive screw chillers, and ammonia systems.
• Provide solutions and recommendations to ensure facilities run efficiently, including upselling opportunities.
• Write and communicate to customers about facility issues, causes, and corrective actions.
• Provide quotes to customers and participate in JCI’s Service Plus Rewards program.
• Pass a knowledge examination to assess proficiencies and enroll in training programs to gain knowledge in HVAC products and sales quoting.
• Work with other mechanics, apprentices, and local market servicemen.

Requirements

• Minimum of three (3) years of commercial and/or industrial mechanical troubleshooting experience in the HVAC industry.
• Experience with rooftop units, pumps, fans, boilers, compressors, plumbing, and mechanical shaft alignment.
• Ability to use vibration equipment to troubleshoot drivelines and perform mechanical shaft alignment.
• Able to pass a knowledge examination to assess proficiencies.
• Travel may be required up to 20% to support branch customers activities, trouble shooting, installation, and repair.

Qualifications

• Dedicated to learning and being responsible for system trouble shooting, repair, and aftermarket services.
• Self-starter with a passion for learning and applying on the job.
• Prioritize safety in all forms.

Skills

• Universal EPA refrigerants license.
• Applicable state or local licensing.
• Valid driver's license.
