About the role

Under general supervision, you will conduct preventive maintenance, repair, installation, general servicing, and troubleshooting of mechanical HVAC systems. This role focuses on delivering high levels of customer satisfaction through direct, on-site customer interaction. You will mentor peers on mechanical HVAC installation and service activities, complete required project and service documentation, and provide solutions to improve building efficiency and resolve service-related issues.

Responsibilities

  • Perform all work assigned under the local union agreement, including pneumatic control systems and mechanical equipment service, as directed by the employer.
  • Provide recommendations and solutions to ensure facilities run efficiently, including identifying upselling opportunities.
  • Provide quotes to support recommendations and solutions.
  • Conduct routine service and inspections of HVAC mechanical equipment, such as:
    • Changing and servicing filters
    • Oiling and greasing components
    • Adjusting or replacing belts
    • Cleaning cooling towers, coils, evaporator and condenser tubes, and general housekeeping
    • Maintaining mechanical systems under contract with customers
    • Cleaning and routine maintenance of solar energy equipment
    • Performing Indoor Air Quality-related work, including duct systems and drain pans
  • Act as a trusted advisor to customers, delivering solutions and outcomes at the time of service.
  • Explain technical information to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Support the activities of Mechanics working on non-complex, non-critical mechanical HVAC equipment on job sites.

Requirements

  • Must be a member or willing to join the local union.
  • Completion of a vocational school four-year program or an associate degree in mechanical systems, air conditioning, or a similar field.
  • 1+ years of industry experience or experience servicing mechanical systems in the HVAC industry.
  • Knowledge of mechanical HVAC systems, facilities management systems, site preparation, peripheral equipment installation, and servicing techniques.
  • Effective interpersonal skills to represent Johnson Controls professionally and ethically to customers and external contacts.
  • Leadership skills to support on-site activities.

Pay

Starting hourly rate: $23.57. The final rate will be determined based on education, experience, knowledge, skills, abilities, internal equity, and market alignment.
