What You Will Do

Johnson Controls Inc. is seeking skilled HVAC Mechanics to support the growth of their HVAC business in North America. Candidates must have practical work experience in their trade, preferably in light commercial or commercial mechanical equipment. The scope of work is limited to commercial HVACR service, and candidates may partner with Journeymen in the repair of various types of machinery.

  • Perform maintenance, repair, and replacement services on commercial heating and cooling systems.
  • Work on centrifugal, steam turbines, absorption machines, open-drive screw chillers, and ammonia systems.
  • Provide solutions and recommendations to ensure facility efficiency, including upselling opportunities.
  • Provide quotes to support recommendations and solutions.

Required

  • Must be a member or willing to join the United Association of Journeymen and Apprentices of the Plumbing and Pipe Fitting Industry of the United States and Canada, AFL-CIO.
  • Twelve (12) years of commercial and/or industrial, mechanical troubleshooting and repair experience in HVAC and related industries.
  • Able to lead large complex repairs, jobs, or retrofits.
  • Able to repair centrifugal compressors, steam turbines, screw chillers, and ammonia/hydrocarbon system components.
  • Maintain ammonia and hydrocarbon safety training certification.
  • Able to install complete systems, including chillers, rooftop units, plumbing, and supporting mechanical systems.
  • Proficient in mechanical shaft alignment and vibration analysis.
  • Able to travel up to 20% to support branch customers' activities, trouble-shooting, installation, and repair.
  • Pass a knowledge examination to assess proficiencies.
  • Enroll in training programs to gain knowledge in HVAC products and sales quoting.
  • Prioritize safety in all forms.

Pay & Benefits

The posted salary range is $52 per hour, determined by the Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA)/rate sheet. Benefits are provided through a local labor union aligned with a collective bargaining agreement.
