HVAC Truck Based Journeymen Mechanic

Responsibilities

• Perform maintenance, repair, and replacement services on commercial heating and cooling systems.
• Partner with Journeymen in the repair of centrifugal, steam turbines, and open-drive screw chillers.
• Provide the highest level of service to solve facility inefficiencies and resolve service-related items.
• Act as a trusted advisor to customers, providing solutions and outcomes at the time of commissioning and aftermarket service.
• Provide recommendations and solutions to ensure facilities are running efficiently, including upselling opportunities.
• Provide quotes to support recommendations and solutions.
• Troubleshoot, repair, and provide aftermarket services for commercial HVACR systems, including rooftop units, pumps, fans, towers, boilers, chillers, compressors, and plumbing.
• Perform mechanical shaft alignment using dial indicators on pumps, fans, and compressors.
• Use vibration equipment to troubleshoot drivelines.
• Communicate with customers about problems, causes, and corrective actions in writing and verbally.
• Participate in JCI’s Service Plus Rewards program.

Requirements

• Must be a member or willing to join the United Association of Journeymen and Apprentices of the Plumbing and Pipe Fitting Industry of the United States and Canada, AFL-CIO.
• Minimum of three (3) years of commercial and/or industrial mechanical troubleshooting experience in the HVAC industry.
• Universal EPA refrigerants license, applicable state or local licensing, and valid driver’s license.
• Willingness to travel 40% to 70% to support branch customer activities, including troubleshooting, installation, and repair.
• Must pass a knowledge examination to assess proficiencies.
• Enroll in training programs to gain knowledge in HVAC products and sales quoting.
• Attention to detail through interpersonal, digital, and written skills.
• Self-starter with a passion and desire to learn and apply on the job.
• Prioritize safety in all forms.

Pay

$45.25 hourly rate determined by the collective bargaining agreement (CBA) rate sheet.
