About the role

Johnson Controls Inc. is looking for skilled HVAC Mechanics to support the fast-growing HVAC business in North America. This role involves working on light commercial and/or heavy commercial teams with advanced equipment. You will perform maintenance, repair, and replacement services on commercial heating and cooling systems, including centrifugal, steam turbines, and open-drive screw chillers. The position offers factory certification through the Service Technical Academy (STA) with recognition, monetary rewards, and advancement opportunities.

Responsibilities

  • Perform maintenance, repair, and replacement services on commercial HVACR systems.
  • Partner with Journeymen in the repair of centrifugal, steam turbines, and open-drive screw chillers.
  • Provide high-level service to solve facility inefficiencies and resolve service-related issues.
  • Act as a trusted advisor to customers, offering solutions and outcomes during commissioning and aftermarket service.
  • Provide recommendations and solutions to ensure facilities run efficiently, including upselling opportunities.
  • Provide quotes to support recommendations and solutions.
  • Troubleshoot mechanical systems, including rooftop units, pumps, fans, towers, boilers, chillers, compressors, and plumbing.
  • Perform mechanical shaft alignment using dial indicators on pumps, fans, and compressors.
  • Use vibration equipment to troubleshoot drivelines.
  • Communicate effectively with customers regarding problems, causes, and corrective actions.
  • Participate in Johnson Controls’ Service Plus Rewards program.

Requirements

  • Must be a member or willing to join the United Association of Journeymen and Apprentices of the Plumbing and Pipe Fitting Industry of the United States and Canada, AFL-CIO.
  • Minimum of three (3) years of commercial and/or industrial mechanical troubleshooting experience in the HVAC industry.
  • Experience with mechanical shaft alignment using dial indicators.
  • Ability to use vibration equipment for troubleshooting drivelines.
  • Travel may be required (10% to 20%) to support branch customer activities, including troubleshooting, installation, and repair.
  • Must pass a knowledge examination to assess proficiencies.
  • Universal EPA refrigerants license, applicable state or local licensing, and a valid driver’s license.
  • Strong interpersonal, digital, and written communication skills.
  • Self-starter with a passion for learning and applying skills on the job.
  • Prioritize safety in all aspects of work.

Pay

$36.00 hourly rate, determined by the collective bargaining agreement (CBA) rate sheet.
