About the role

Johnson Controls, Inc. is seeking skilled HVAC Mechanics to support its fast-growing HVAC business in North America. The position offers opportunities to work on light commercial and/or heavy commercial teams with advanced equipment.

Responsibilities

  • Perform maintenance, repair, and replacement services on commercial heating and cooling systems.
  • Partner with Journeymen in the repair of centrifugal, steam turbines, and absorption machines, open-drive screw chillers, and ammonia systems.
  • Provide solutions and recommendations to ensure facilities are running efficiently, including upselling opportunities.
  • Write and communicate quotes to customers and participate in JCI’s Service Plus Rewards program.
  • Pass a knowledge examination to assess proficiencies.

Requirements

  • Must be a member or willing to join the United Association of Journeymen and Apprentices of the Plumbing and Pipe Fitting Industry of the United States and Canada, AFL-CIO.
  • Minimum of eight (8) years of commercial and/or industrial, mechanical troubleshooting experience in HVAC and industrial petro-chemical, or data center vertical environments.
  • Able to repair centrifugal compressors, steam turbines, screw chillers, and ammonia/hydrocarbon system components.
  • Maintain ammonia and hydrocarbon safety training certification.
  • Able to install complete systems, including chillers, rooftop units, plumbing, and supporting mechanical systems.
  • Use mechanical shaft alignment tools, vibration equipment, and other diagnostic equipment.
  • Travel up to 20% to support branch customers activities, trouble shooting, installation, and repair.

Qualifications

  • Universal EPA refrigerants license, applicable state or local licensing, and valid driver's license.

Pay

The pay range for this role is $31.61 hourly rate, determined by the Collective Bargaining Agreement/rate sheet. Benefits are provided through a local labor union aligned with a collective bargaining agreement.
