HVAC Truck Based Chiller Journeyman Mechanic (union)

About the role

Johnson Controls Inc. is seeking skilled HVAC Technicians to support the growth of their HVAC business in North America. Applicants must be members of the United Association of Journeymen and Apprentices of the Plumbing and Pipe Fitting Industry of the United States and Canada, AFL-CIO.

Responsibilities

• Provide high-level service to solve facility inefficiencies and resolve service-related issues.
• Act as a trusted advisor to customers, offering solutions and outcomes during commissioning and aftermarket service.
• Provide recommendations and solutions to ensure facility efficiency, including upselling opportunities.
• Generate quotes to support recommendations and solutions.

Requirements

• Minimum of eight (8) years of practical working experience on air cooled and/or water-cooled chillers, industrial chillers, AHU’s or large roof top ducted units.
• Strong HVAC/mechanical troubleshooting experience, including repair of centrifugal compressors, steam turbines, screw chillers, and ammonia/hydrocarbon system components.
• Maintain ammonia and hydrocarbon safety training certification.
• Extensive experience in HVAC systems, including chilled water loops, pumping, compressor enthalpy, compressor trouble-shooting, and rebuilds of mechanical shaft alignment.
• Proficiency in operating, troubleshooting, and repairing large tonnage chillers, 460V VSD’s, and other related equipment.
• Ability to use vibration equipment for compressor driveline trouble-shooting.
• Travel may be required up to 20% to support startup and commissioning activities and aftermarket service trouble-shooting.

Skills

• Universal EPA refrigerants license.
• Applicable state or local licensing.
• Valid driver's license.
