About the role

Johnson Controls, Inc. is seeking skilled HVAC Technicians to support the growth of their HVAC business in North America. This position offers opportunities to work on cutting-edge facilities, chillers, and commercial products, with a focus on providing high-quality service and solutions.

Responsibilities

  • Provide the highest level of service to solve facility inefficiencies and resolve service-related issues.
  • Act as a trusted advisor to customers, offering solutions and outcomes during commissioning and aftermarket service.
  • Make recommendations and solutions to ensure facilities run efficiently, including upselling opportunities.
  • Provide quotes to support recommendations and solutions.

Requirements

  • Must be a member of the United Association of Journeymen and Apprentices of the Plumbing and Pipe Fitting Industry of the United States and Canada, AFL-CIO.
  • At least 12 years of practical working experience on air cooled and/or water-cooled chillers, industrial chillers, AHU’s or large roof top ducted units.
  • Able to repair centrifugal compressors, steam turbines, absorption chillers, screw chillers, and/or ammonia/hydrocarbon system components.
  • Maintain ammonia and hydrocarbon safety training certification.
  • Extensive experience in HVAC systems, including chilled water loops, pumping, compressor enthalpy, and compressor troubleshooting and rebuild.
  • Able to use vibration equipment to troubleshoot compressor drivelines.
  • Proficient in the operations, trouble-shooting, and repair of large tonnage chillers, VSD’s, and controllers from multiple OEMs.
  • Able to trouble-shoot industrial Allen Bradley control systems and adjust.
  • Travel may be required up to 20% to support branch customers' startup and commissioning activities as well as aftermarket service trouble-shooting.

Qualifications

  • Pass a knowledge examination to assess proficiencies.
  • Enroll in training programs to gain knowledge in HVAC products and sales quoting.
  • Work with other local market mechanics and provide on-the-job training or participate in local classroom training for other technicians.
  • Show attention to detail through interpersonal, digital, and written communication skills.
  • Able to write and communicate about facility problems, causes, and corrective actions to customers.
  • Participate in JCI’s Service Plus Rewards program.
  • Be a self-starter with a passion for learning and applying new skills on the job.

Skills

  • Universal EPA refrigerants license.
  • Applicable state or local licensing.
  • Valid driver's license.
