About the role
Johnson Controls, Inc. is seeking skilled HVAC Technicians to support the growth of their HVAC business in North America. This position offers opportunities to work on cutting-edge facilities, HVAC chillers, and commercial products.
Responsibilities
- Provide the highest level of service to solve facility inefficiencies and resolve service-related issues.
- Act as a trusted advisor to customers, providing solutions and outcomes during commissioning and aftermarket service.
- Offer recommendations and solutions to ensure facility efficiency, including upselling opportunities.
- Generate quotes to support recommendations and solutions.
Requirements
- Must be a member or willing to join the United Association of Journeymen and Apprentices of the Plumbing and Pipe Fitting Industry of the United States and Canada, AFL-CIO.
- At least 12 years of practical experience on air cooled and/or water-cooled chillers, industrial chillers, AHU’s, or large roof-top ducted units.
- Able to lead complex repairs, jobs, or retrofits, and repair centrifugal compressors, steam turbines, absorption chillers, screw chillers, and/or ammonia/hydrocarbon system components.
- Maintain ammonia and hydrocarbon safety training certification.
- Extensive experience in HVAC systems, including chilled water loops, pumping, compressor enthalpy, compressor troubleshooting, and rebuild.
- Proficient in mechanical shaft alignment, vibration equipment usage, and troubleshooting compressor drivelines.
- Skilled in operating, troubleshooting, and repairing large tonnage chillers, VSD’s, and various OEM chiller panels and controllers.
- Proficient in multiple control systems, including Allen Bradley, and able to adjust them.
- Able to travel up to 20% to support startup and commissioning activities and aftermarket service trouble-shooting.
Qualifications
- Prioritize safety in all forms.
- Able to write and communicate effectively about problems, causes, and corrective actions to customers.
- Able to generate quotes for customers and participate in JCI’s Service Plus Rewards program.
- Self-starter with a passion for learning and applying new skills on the job.
Skills
- Universal EPA refrigerants license.
- Applicable state or local licensing.
- Valid driver's license.
