HVAC Equipment Service Tech Journeyman (union)

Responsibilities

• Provide our customers with the highest level of service to solve facility inefficiencies and resolve service-related items.
• Act as a trusted advisor to our customers, providing solutions and outcomes at the time of commissioning and aftermarket service.
• Provide recommendations and solutions to ensure facilities are running efficiently, including upselling opportunities.
• Provide quotes to support recommendations and solutions.
• Lead large complex repairs, jobs, or retrofits.
• Repair centrifugal compressors, steam turbines, absorption chillers, screw chillers, and/or ammonia/hydrocarbon system components.
• Work with other local market mechanics and, when necessary, provide on-the-job training or lead relevant classroom training for other Technicians.
• Provide quotes to customers and participate in JCI’s Service Plus Rewards program.
• Travel may be required (10% to 20%) to support Branch Customers with startup, commissioning, and aftermarket service troubleshooting.

Requirements

• Must be a member or willing to join the United Association of Journeymen and Apprentices of the Plumbing and Pipe Fitting Industry of the United States and Canada, AFL-CIO.
• Practical working experience on air-cooled and/or water-cooled chillers, industrial chillers, AHUs, or large rooftop ducted units with strong HVAC/mechanical troubleshooting experience.
• Maintain ammonia and hydrocarbon safety training certification.
• Extensive experience in HVAC systems, including chilled water loops, pumping, compressor enthalpy, compressor troubleshooting, and rebuilds.
• Mechanical shaft alignment using dial indicators, lasers, etc., for pumps, fans, and compressors.
• Able to use vibration equipment to troubleshoot compressor drivelines.
• Proficient in the operation, troubleshooting, and repair of large-tonnage chillers, 460 VAC VSDs, and medium-voltage 4160 VAC VSDs.
• Proficient in multiple OEM chiller panels and controllers.
• Able to troubleshoot industrial Allen Bradley control systems and adjust.
• Universal EPA refrigerants license, applicable state or local licensing, and a valid driver's license.

Pay

$47.44 hourly rate determined by the CBA/rate sheet.
