About the Role

Join a global leader in smart, healthy, and sustainable buildings. As an HVAC Mechanical Service Technician, you will perform mobile service work across a site network in the Greater Toronto Area, primarily at Humber River Hospital and Cortellucci Vaughan Hospital, with planned expansion to other locations. You will work independently in coordination with site-based Facility Maintenance teams, troubleshooting, completing maintenance tasks, and replacing systems at the end of their life. Experience in operating facilities, particularly healthcare, is strongly preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Respond to customer needs, inquiries, and requirements professionally and promptly.
  • Diligently respond to work orders and assignments in a timely manner, adhering to response and rectification times outlined in the Facility Maintenance Services Agreement (FMSA).
  • Perform mobile service work across the Greater Toronto Area using a company vehicle.
  • Work cooperatively with maintenance staff, management, facility staff, and contractors to complete assigned work safely.
  • Maintain a clean and tidy work area consistent with good housekeeping practices.
  • Perform maintenance, repairs, and services on HVAC, mechanical systems, building maintenance, carpentry, painting, and plumbing.
  • Apply working knowledge of Electrical/Electronic BAS and related equipment as required.
  • Perform preventative and corrective maintenance on facility equipment and systems in accordance with established processes.
  • Comply with environmental, health and safety, and fire protection requirements.
  • Monitor and inspect facility equipment and systems to ensure uptime, uninterrupted client operation, and asset integrity.
  • Communicate and record observations about facility equipment conditions and deficiencies, providing suggestions for enhancement and repair.
  • Maintain, troubleshoot, and repair equipment and building systems.
  • Respond to routine and on-demand service requests promptly and courteously.
  • Record resolution data within the service maintenance management database.
  • Ensure work meets quality, contract response, and other requirements.
  • Track, monitor, and report the status of maintenance and repair work.
  • Initiate documents to obtain formal approval for required work.
  • Work with subcontractors on equipment repair, preventative maintenance, and calibration.
  • Recommend spare parts and supply purchases for facility equipment.
  • Maintain and complete all equipment logbooks and maintenance records.
  • Assist in implementing the preventative maintenance (PM) program, identifying and escalating deficiencies.
  • Participate in facility-related project work.
  • Ensure compliance with corporate and legislated policies, procedures, and guidelines.
  • Maintain all assigned tools and arrange for repair or replacement as needed.
  • Enhance customer satisfaction and maintain positive relations through service delivery.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Able and willing to work flexible shifts, including on-call/standby and emergency call-outs.
  • Regularly scheduled evening, weekend, and 12-hour shift work may be required.
  • Willing and able to wear personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Ability to use hand tools, lift/carry 50 lbs., and work on ladders/step stools.
  • Capable of working extended periods on your feet in a fast-paced environment.
  • More than 3 years of facility maintenance experience in hospitals, universities, food, manufacturing, or other commercial/industrial institutions.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and schematics.
  • Good communication skills (verbal and written); must be fluent in English.
  • Familiarity with building automation systems (BAS).
  • Working knowledge of computers and handheld devices.
  • Positive, professional disposition with a willingness to cooperate with co-workers and supervisors.
  • Strong client-service orientation and a high sense of urgency.
  • Ability to succeed in a team-oriented, dynamic environment.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality of company and client-related business activities.
  • Clean driving record and compliance with company vehicle policies.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Metasys knowledge is an asset.
  • HVAC and Electrical knowledge is an asset.

Pay

Hourly rate determined by the Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA) rate sheet. Benefits are provided through a local labor union aligned with the CBA.
