About the role
Johnson Controls, Inc. is seeking skilled HVAC Mechanics to support its fast-growing HVAC business in North America. The position offers opportunities to work on light commercial and/or heavy commercial teams with advanced equipment.
Responsibilities
- Perform maintenance, repair, and replacement services on commercial heating and cooling systems.
- Partner with Journeymen in the repair of centrifugal, steam turbines, and open-drive screw chillers.
- Provide solutions and outcomes at the time of commissioning and aftermarket service.
- Offer recommendations and solutions to ensure facilities run efficiently, including upselling opportunities.
- Provide quotes to support recommendations and solutions.
Requirements
- Must be a member or willing to join the United Association of Journeymen and Apprentices of the Plumbing and Pipe Fitting Industry of the United States and Canada, AFL-CIO.
- Minimum of five (5) years of commercial and/or industrial mechanical troubleshooting experience in the HVAC industry, including rooftop units, pumps, fans, towers, boilers, chillers, compressors, plumbing, and mechanical shaft alignment.
- Able to use vibration equipment and dial indicators for trouble-shooting drivelines and compressors.
- Travel may be required up to 30% to support branch customer activities, trouble-shooting, installation, and repair.
- Pass a knowledge examination to assess proficiencies.
Qualifications
- Enroll in training programs to gain knowledge in HVAC products and sales quoting.
- Work with other local market mechanics, Servicemen, and apprentices.
- Show attention to detail through interpersonal, digital, and written skills.
- Able to write and communicate about facility issues, causes, and corrective actions to customers.
- Participate in JCI’s Service Plus Rewards program.
- Be self-motivated and passionate about learning and applying new skills on the job.
Skills
- Universal EPA refrigerants license.
- Applicable state or local licensing.
- Valid driver's license.
Benefits
The position is a Bargaining Unit Position. Pay Range: $42 hourly rate determined by the Collective Bargaining Agreement/rate sheet. Benefits are provided through a local labor union aligned with a collective bargaining agreement.
