About the role

Johnson Controls Inc. is seeking skilled HVAC Mechanics to support the growth of their HVAC business in North America. The position offers opportunities for professional development, including factory certification through the Service Technical Academy (STA), incentive programs, and a focus on employee safety.

Responsibilities

  • Perform maintenance, repair, and replacement services on commercial heating and cooling systems.
  • Partner with Journeymen in the repair of centrifugal, steam turbines, and absorption machines, open-drive screw chillers, and ammonia systems.
  • Provide solutions and recommendations to ensure facility efficiency, including upselling opportunities.
  • Write and communicate quotes to customers and participate in JCI’s Service Plus Rewards program.
  • Travel 50-75% of the time as part of the Travel Team to support branch customers, trouble-shoot, install, and repair systems.

Requirements

  • Must be a member or willing to join the United Association of Journeymen and Apprentices of the Plumbing and Pipe Fitting Industry of the United States and Canada, AFL-CIO.
  • Minimum of eight (8) years commercial and/or industrial, mechanical troubleshooting experience in HVAC, industrial petrochemical, or data center vertical environments.
  • Able to repair centrifugal compressors, steam turbines, screw chillers, and ammonia/hydrocarbon system components.
  • Maintain ammonia and hydrocarbon safety training certification.
  • Able to install complete systems, including chillers, rooftop units, plumbing, and all supporting mechanical systems.
  • Use mechanical shaft alignment tools, vibration equipment, and laser for troubleshooting drivelines.
  • Pass a knowledge examination to assess proficiencies.

Qualifications

  • Universal EPA refrigerants license, applicable state or local licensing, and valid driver's license.

  • Self-starter with a passion for learning and applying new skills on the job.

The position offers a competitive pay range of $41 hourly rate, determined by the Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA) or rate sheet. Benefits are provided through a local labor union aligned with a collective bargaining agreement. The posted salary range reflects the target compensation for this role, but exceptional candidates may bring unique skills and experiences that warrant consideration beyond the stated range.
