HVAC Data Center Chiller Equipment Journeyman (un)
About the Role
We are looking for a skilled Journeymen Chiller Mechanic with experience in commercial, industrial, and/or institutional markets to join our team. You will be responsible for executing contract maintenance visits, inspections, site assessments, and service requests, as well as recommending upgrades or repairs to prolong equipment life cycles.
Responsibilities
- Perform maintenance, troubleshooting, and rebuilds of medium-large tonnage chillers of all brands.
- Manage primary service accounts and execute contract maintenance visits, inspections, and site assessments.
- Provide quote estimates for labor and material repairs or upgrades.
- Serve as direct customer contact, ensuring customer satisfaction by diagnosing and repairing equipment and systems at customer locations.
- Use cutting-edge software, technology, hand tools, rigging equipment, and blueprints to diagnose and repair equipment.
- Maintain safety standards and ensure security and accountability of company assets.
- Work as part of a team, potentially requiring overtime, weekends, and occasional overnight stays.
- Participate in an on-call rotation for 24/7 service coverage.
Requirements
- Mechanical Journeyman status.
- Valid Red Seal Refrigeration and A/C certification.
- Valid ODS certification.
- More than 5 years of commercial, industrial, and/or institutional experience with all types of chillers, compressor technologies, chiller control systems, and speed drives.
- Operating knowledge of Microsoft Office software and proficiency with handheld devices (e.g., smartphones, iPads).
- Adherence to company safety programs.
- Valid driver’s license and appropriate licenses to work with refrigerants.
- Boiler and steam operational and service knowledge.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to participate in an on-call rotation, including nights and weekends.

Pay
Hourly rate determined by the CBA/rate sheet.
This is a Bargaining Unit Position subject to pre-hiring screening. With successful performance, the company may recommend you to the Union Local apprenticeship program and continued employment. Acceptance by the Union Local must occur within 365 days of employment.
