As a Traveling HVAC Journeyman Data Center Chiller Technician with Carrier, you will uniquely impact our customers by ensuring their comfort through installations, repairs, and maintenance projects. This role offers opportunities to work independently and collaboratively, making critical on-the-job decisions. This position operates on a long-term rotational travel schedule (4 weeks traveling / 1 week off) and is suited for an experienced HVAC professional who thrives in high-performance, customer-focused environments. Carrier values partnerships with our Union workers and provides payment for all travel time incurred.

Responsibilities

  • Travel to different Data Center Sites on a long-term rotational travel schedule (4 weeks traveling / 1 week off).
  • Participate in startup and commissioning of new units to support state-of-the-art facilities.
  • Perform diagnostic tests, troubleshoot mechanical and electrical malfunctions, and execute regularly scheduled maintenance on heating and cooling units.
  • Review and interpret regulatory requirements and technical documents, including blueprints and diagrams.
  • Cultivate strong customer relationships and ensure timely escalation of issues for resolution.
  • Prioritize safety by adhering to licensing requirements, operating equipment safely, recognizing HVAC-related hazards, completing safety training, and implementing effective safety measures.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of practical working experience in the HVAC Industry.
  • 3+ years of experience working on Centrifugal Chillers.
  • Ability to push, pull, or lift 50 lbs.
  • Must be able to stand, crawl, sit, squat for extended periods, climb a ladder, and work on rooftops.
  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Possess and maintain a valid and current Driver’s License and be insurable by the company’s insurance carrier.
  • EPA Universal Certification.

Qualifications (Preferred)

  • OSHA 30 Certification.
  • Experience on Carrier, Trane, and Daikin Air-Cooled and Water-Cooled Centrifugal Chillers.
  • Basic understanding of building automation controls (BOMAC).
  • Experience with data centers.
  • Experience with Steam Turbines.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Knowledge of ServiceMax.
  • Strong working knowledge of: 19XR, 30CF, and CDU chillers, air-side systems (constant volume, VAV), and water-side systems (hot water, chilled water, condenser water).

Pay

The hourly rate for this position is between $38.00 and $76.00 per hour. Factors affecting pay within this range include skills, education, experience, and other unique qualifications of the successful candidate.

Schedule

This role operates on a long-term rotational travel schedule: 4 weeks traveling followed by 1 week off.
