About the Role

A Cooling Customer Engineer (CE) is responsible for the installation, commissioning, scheduled maintenance, and emergency service of Liebert air products. The role involves establishing and maintaining excellent rapport with customers, co-workers, sales representatives, and other stakeholders while ensuring continuous communication with area/district offices and direct management.

Responsibilities

  • Rely on direction to accomplish goals and perform work-related tasks under direct supervision or independently based on training.
  • Maintain certifications as required by the job.
  • Provide on-site and phone assistance to customers, and communicate with National Technical Support on equipment issues.
  • Perform scheduled maintenance tasks according to company guidelines and implement Field Change Notices as published.
  • Stay current on Safety Bulletins, Safety Field Change Notices, Field Change Notices, and Service Tips.
  • Operate safely in accordance with published safety guidelines, including wearing appropriate PPE and adhering to the "14-hour rule" for work hours.
  • Report all work-related accidents or injuries within 24 hours.
  • Provide accurate and timely reporting, including timecards, expense reports, mileage reports, and ticket closure.
  • Maintain individual inventory and company property (e.g., vehicle, credit cards, PPE, test equipment, laptop) according to company policies.
  • Ensure customer satisfaction through proper communication, estimated time of arrival, and completion of maintenance documentation.
  • Strive for "first-time fix" solutions and maintain customer satisfaction rates per company guidelines.
  • Attend customer meetings as required.
  • Maximize productivity by combining service opportunities and completing work efficiently.
  • Make technical and commercial decisions under pressure and evaluate sites for appropriate billing status.
  • Maintain productive utilization rates and perform inventory cycle counts per company guidelines.
  • Adhere to company dress code, safety regulations, and on-site response time requirements.
  • Understand and comply with company startup/escalation processes and maintain internal communications.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or G.E.D. equivalent.
  • One or more of the following:
    • HVAC Certificate Program degree or equivalent field experience.
    • Six years of military experience in a related field.
    • Equivalent industry experience with an EPA refrigerant license.
  • Basic electrical knowledge and familiarity with electrical/electronic test equipment.
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical line diagrams and blueprints.
  • Working knowledge of Ohm’s law and HVAC theory.
  • Strong communication, customer service, troubleshooting, safety, organizational, planning, and computer skills.
  • Mechanical aptitude and ability to evaluate site conditions (e.g., environmental temperature, general operating conditions).
  • Capability to perform repairs and restore equipment to full operating conditions under supervision.
  • Ability to summarize and report all work-related tasks performed.

Physical & Environmental Demands

  • Regularly required to stand, walk, use hands/fingers, handle tools/components, reach, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
  • Frequently required to sit, climb, or balance, and talk, hear, or smell.
  • Specific vision abilities include close, distant, color, peripheral, depth perception, and focus adjustment.
  • Frequent driving (car, van, or truck).
  • Must consistently lift up to 50 pounds and occasionally up to 75 pounds.
  • Exposure to extreme cold (below 32°F) and heat (above 100°F).
  • Medium to high noise levels (need to shout to be heard).
  • Working around moving machinery (e.g., forklifts, tractors).
  • Protective equipment required (e.g., earplugs, gloves, eyewear, respirator, mask).
  • Work outdoors with no effective protection from weather.

Working Conditions

  • Travel is required.
  • Flexible schedules, including weekends, evenings, and holidays.
  • May have on-call responsibilities.
  • Valid driver’s license required.
  • Must be at least 18 years old.
