About the role
The Department of Human Services is seeking a Human Services Judge to conduct administrative fair hearings for various agencies. This includes reviewing evidence, analyzing relevant laws, and preparing independent recommended orders.
Responsibilities
- Manage a high-volume caseload while ensuring timely resolution of appeals.
- Conduct evidentiary hearings to develop a complete record.
- Make findings of fact and conclusions of law based on the evidence and applicable laws.
- Ensure compliance with all applicable statutes, rules, regulations, and policies.
- Identify legal issues within complex factual circumstances.
- Communicate effectively with parties and write clear, concise recommended orders.
- Perform credibility determinations.
- Represent clients in administrative hearings.
- Work with individuals from diverse backgrounds and cultures.
- Work independently and prioritize tasks efficiently.
- Build and maintain good working relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
- Use computer systems and recording devices proficiently.
Requirements
- Four (4) years of advanced professional legal experience in hearings.
- Licensed to practice law in Minnesota.
- Experience conducting evidentiary hearings as an administrative law judge, workers' compensation judge, unemployment insurance judge, or equivalent experience.
- Experience making credibility determinations.
- Experience representing public assistance recipients or government agencies in legal proceedings.
- Experience representing clients in administrative hearings.
- Variety of experiences working effectively with others from different backgrounds and cultures.
Qualifications
- Juris Doctorate (J.D.)
- Must be licensed to practice law in Minnesota and be in active status, an inactive resident, retired, on disabled status, or on retired senior status.

Pay
- $38.55 - $57.35 / hourly
- $80,492 - $119,746 / annually
Schedule
- Day shift: 8:30am - 5:30pm
- Monday - Friday
