Human Services Committee
Committee Goals and Priorities
To advocate for and support the role of the Human Services Department in the town of Acton;
To identify and prioritize unmet and emerging human service needs in the community;
To advise the Select Board and educate the community at large regarding these community trends/needs;
To stimulate the development of new programs, services and initiatives by public and private entities and/or partnerships to address human service-related needs in Acton;
To recommend human services related funding and best practices to the Select Board and Town Meeting members.
Committee Composition
The Committee shall consist of nine (9) members appointed by the Select Board, including five at-large members, and the remaining members will include designees from the Council on Aging, Commission on Disabilities, Nursing Services Advisory Committee, and Recreation Commission.
Desirable Qualifications
Interest in Human Services in a municipal setting;
Human services management, planning, evaluation, and/or provision;
Education, prevention, and intervention services as they relate to social issues and mental health;
Knowledge of Acton community and human services-related needs.
Application Information
Interested citizens without such experience will also be considered. It is anticipated that subject matter experts from Acton’s Human Services Department and other relevant divisions will also participate in committee meetings.
