About the role
The Human Resources Specialist 1 position serves as a resource in the areas of labor contract administration, staffing/recruitment, selection, classification, and compensation and ensures all employment laws, rules, regulations and collective bargaining agreements are upheld.
Responsibilities
- Researching, analyzing, and interpreting information
- Creating written documents such as reports or presentations
- Using databases to update, track and retrieve information
- Communicating information to others verbally and in writing
- Managing hiring and selection processes
Requirements
- One (1) year of professional level experience in human resources demonstrating all requirements listed below.
- Two (2) years of paraprofessional/technical experience in human resources or a related field demonstrating all requirements listed below.
Qualifications
- A bachelor's or master’s degree in human resources, Industrial Relations, Organizational Development or a closely related field substitutes for one (1) year of professional experience.
- Experience/Education Must Demonstrate The Following:
- Researching, analyzing, and interpreting information
- Creating written documents such as reports or presentations
- Using databases to update, track and retrieve information
- Communicating information to others verbally and in writing
- Managing hiring and selection processes
Skills
- Analytical and problem-solving ability (judgment/decision-making)
- Experience working with the State of Minnesota classification and job evaluation system
- Experience performing recruiting or outreach activities
- Experience applying collective bargaining agreements and plans

Pay
$26.12 - $37.91 / hourly; $54,538 - $79,156 / annually
